Solnecta is a large bug-like Loomian. Its body is primarily black, and it has white neck fur with carmine spots. It has four wings shaped like solar coronas with cyan gradients in the center and white edges. Its abdomen is larger than its body and is striped black and cyan with a large stinger on the end. It has four limbs with eyelike jewels on top of each. It has large, glassy eyes and a third "eye" formed by another jewel, as well as thin antennae. Its legs and thorax have cyan stripes along the middle. It has subtle yellow gradients on its white underbelly, mane and the edges of its wings.

Solnecta is based on the short sun-digger bee and its light-inpired design takes inspiration from a story of the ancient Egyptian Sun god Ra where honey bees were believed to rise from his tears. Its Loomipedia entry mentioning its ability to generate heat and its ability to learn Fire-Type moves may reference the behavior of "bee balling", where honeybees defend themselves against a predator by producing intense heat in a swarm. Its name is likely a portmanteau of "sol", meaning sun, "nectar", and possibly "insect". Its association with the Solflower may be based on the fact that sunflowers are one of the most popular flowers planted for bee pollination.
